Trade Organisation Membership
HJ Patton Construction (Ireland) Ltd. were elected members of the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) in 1986. Tony Walsh, the then company contracts manager was elected chairman of the Donegal branch of the CIF for eight consecutive years. We are also members of the Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA). Mr. Walsh has been sitting on the executive committee since 1987. In the pursuance of excellence, the company is also a member of the Irish Concrete Society.

Plant & Equipment
The Company has a vast array of plant and equipment as well as modern site offices. Most of the work carried out is carried out with plant and equipment owned by the company.

Since the foundation of the company in 1980 the company bankers have been Allied Irish Banks plc., Main Street, Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal. The company has an excellent relationship with its bankers. References may be obtained by contacting our bankers directly.

The company auditors are Terry Mc Intyre & Company, The Mall, Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal.

Bonding and Insurances
College Hill Underwriters Limited, London, bond all contracts entered into by the company. Our Employers Liability (EL) and Public Liability (PL) is insured through Lloyds of London. Since the formation of the company there has never been a claim against the companies PL policy. Only two claims valued at £15K were successful against the companies EL policy since the formation of the company in 1980. In addition, there has never been any claim involving our Contractors All Risks (CAR) policy.

Objectives
Hitherto, we have been involved mainly in Public Works constructing roads, Water Treatment and Sewerage Treatment Works and pipelines. In recent years the company decided to re-structure and diversify into the private commercial sector, marine works and DBO's. In this regard we have entered into relationships and agreements with a number of British Companies. We have entered into joint ventures with a number of British registered companies in the past. It is our intention to expand further into marine works and avail of the significant funds allocated under the NDP. In this regard we have taken over all the resources of Norfolk Marine Limited, a UK registered Company who have carried out marine works in this jurisdiction.

Safety
The Company has a safety record second to none. With only five reportable accidents since the company was founded, Hugh J. Patton Construction (Ireland) Ltd. has a proven track record as the company with the lowest accident rate in the country of any company involved in the construction industry in Ireland. This fact was recognised by the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) in an article in their magazine in 1996.
